Recently had a conversation with a complete stranger about what sets us apart from the people who are happy in what they do everyday..job, family, relationships, hobbies, feeding the cat, etc. After living in Europe for a short time I truly value the idea of working hard but not letting it be the center of my life. Afterall, I realize that I wear many hats during a period of 24 hours. We discussed how most days on average most of us get up, drop off the kids, drive to work and repeat the same activities at the end of the day. Is this really the life we need, desire,or even want to live? So, my new acquaintance stated this question, "I know there people out there that are happy doing what they are doing..what makes them different from me" she stated. I guess that's the question of the Day?

  1. does this question presuppose that we are not happy doing what we are doing? while i too dread the morning menusha of getting the kids ready and braving the traffic, but i enjoy what i do and i don't think i would last very long doing something i didn't. perhaps the question is are we happy doing all the things that we do? i'm not sure i see alternatives.

  2. No, its not a negative question. Its rethinking how we spend our time.
